Staying Connected at Valley Harvest during the COVID-19 Pandemic

The leadership of Valley Harvest is committed to doing what it takes to protect this flock, which includes complying with the developing guidelines issued by the federal, state, and local health departments and disease control agencies. As more about the spread of the COVID-19 virus becomes known, these guidelines are daily changing. You are, I’m sure, familiar with the call for disinfecting hard surfaces (for which supplies are rapidly becoming unavailable) and asking people who are sick and any folks over 65 to stay home.

In light of all of this, the VH elder council has determined it to be best for our congregation and the larger public to limit our Sunday gatherings to online live stream only. This means that the sanctuary will not be open for Sunday worship until further notice. What does ‘Until further notice’ mean? It means that we will be paying strict attention to the guidelines and recommendations. We are hoping that new discoveries will reveal that we are safe to gather sooner than expected and are hoping to resume in person services and activities the first week of April. We will certainly get the word out when that decision is made and give updates along the way.

Our Community Food Pantry & Brown Bag program will still be serving the public as normally scheduled in a limited fashion, not allowing the public in the building and with limited volunteers. Our community groups that are still gathering & are smaller than 10 individuals will continue as they so choose. All other on-site programming, including Harvest Kids, Grafted, Roots, Community Luncheon, the Passover Seder, etc. will be suspended until further notice.

In the meantime, we don’t have to be in the building to be the church! We can still praise God together in worship. We can still hear His life-changing word preached. We can still pray for one another. We can still give generously in a time with many needs. This guide will help us stay on mission during a messy time.
